George Myers

George Myers

George Myers grew up in Youngstown, Ohio, and graduated from South High School in 1936. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the European Theater during World War II in the Signal Corps. After the war he returned to Youngstown and enrolled in Youngstown College, graduating in 1948 with a degree in Engineering. He spent his career working as an electrical engineer for AETNA Standard Engineering, headquarted in Youngstown, Pittsburgh and Ellwood City. In his 36 years with AETNA Standard, George worked extensively in the industry throughout the United States, Europe, North Africa and Asia.

George had a passion for traveling. He visited six continents, all except Australia. George would always take a holiday cruise each year for at least 10 days. Through his estate plan, George made provisions to establish an Endowed Scholarship that will be awarded on an annual basis to a deserving engineering student at Youngstown State University.
